What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technician Quality position at Martinrea International Inc.?
The quality lab technician is responsible for the following, but not limited to layout inspections (scanning and CMM), calibration system, and gauges.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of MS Office products.
- GMAB and GMAW Welding skill set preferred.
- Personal qualifications must include a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with people, good grooming, and good oral and written communication skills

- Excellent attendance: "sense of urgency" oriented especially when customer deadlines potentially in jeopardize.
- Task management ensuring timely completion of activities.
- Work with all departments to ensure timely completion of activities.Collaborate and communicate effectively across different organizational levels.
- Inspects incoming materials and production assemblies for dimensional accuracy, fit, alignment and functional operation using precision measuring instruments.
- Confirms dimensional and visual characteristics as required.
- Audits manufacturing and assembly processes to identify possible causes of non-conformances and communicates findings and observations with manufacturing and engineering personnel.
- Perform Roving Inspections of manufactured product/assemblies.
- Performs routine testing, destructive testing, tensile testing, and torque testing.
- Enters SPC data collection.
- Assists with repeatability and reproducibility (R&R) studies and capability studies.
- Ability to read and understand shop specifications, work instructions and production schedules.
- Responsible for containing nonconforming material
- Datalyzer entries
- Performs all aspects of layout inspections (ballooning prints, measure, transfer data to applicable data sheets, confirm any measurements out of specification). *Following appropriate internal or 3rd party training if no prior experience.
- Cleans and maintains Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM)/Romer in good operating condition.
- Notifies quality management (and Quality Engineers) of dimensional discrepancies.
- Tracks all gages & test equipment via Software (e.g.GageTrak) to ensure all gages remain calibrated.
- Calibrating in-house and coordinating external calibrations
- Conducts weld analysis. (Cut, Polish, Etch, Inspect)
- Conducts testing to include; cleanliness, conductivity, torque, and pull testing (as required).
- Conducts salt spray corrosion testing and salt spray preventive maintenance.
- Conducts laboratory operations in accordance with the Lab Scope (QA-WI-073)
- Orders common gages as needed or requested. (i.e. Pin, Bore, Callipers, Micrometres, Snap)
- Ensures production has gages necessary for measurement per control plan and replacement gages when needed.
- Assist in Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) activities.
- Tracks variation using MSA for certain characteristics requiring CMM/Scanning measurement.
- Maintain all necessary quality records.
- Comply and conform to all applicable BMS documentation to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 and Customer Specific Requirements.
- Assist in continuous improvement projects.
