We are seeking an experienced Tax Director to provide strategic leadership within our tax practice. This role is responsible for overseeing complex client engagements, mentoring high-performing professionals, and contributing to the firm's continued growth through exceptional client service and business development. The ideal candidate is a trusted advisor with deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for developing both client relationships and team members.
Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership
- Serve as the primary advisor for a portfolio of key tax clients, delivering strategic guidance on complex tax matters.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with business owners, executives, and stakeholders.
- Provide practical tax planning solutions that support clients' financial and operational objectives.
- Address complex tax issues while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
Technical Excellence
- Review complex tax returns, supporting documentation, and engagement deliverables to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Provide technical guidance to senior tax professionals on advanced tax matters.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and advise clients and staff on their impact.
- Promote consistent application of professional standards and firm policies.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor Senior Managers, Managers, and engagement teams.
- Support staffing decisions, resource planning, and workflow management across multiple engagements.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement.
- Assist with recruiting, training, and developing future leaders within the practice.
Practice Growth
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and develop new business.
- Participate in proposals, networking, and relationship-building activities.
- Contribute to strategic planning and initiatives that strengthen the firm's tax practice.
- Monitor engagement profitability, billing, collections, and overall financial performance.
Operational Leadership
- Ensure engagements are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
- Participate in firm leadership initiatives and operational improvement efforts.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of professional ethics.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Active CPA license preferred; equivalent credentials with significant experience may be considered.
- Approximately 10 or more years of public accounting experience with increasing leadership responsibility.
- Extensive knowledge of federal and state tax compliance, planning, and consulting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven experience managing complex client relationships and leading multiple engagement teams.
- Demonstrated success in business development and practice growth.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax preparation, research, and practice management software.
- Commitment to ongoing professional education and staying current with changes in tax law.

Salary : $150,000 - $190,000
