We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to oversee the daily operations of our accounts payable department within a fast-paced, international organization. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring efficient payment processes, maintaining strong financial controls, developing a high-performing team, and supporting continuous process improvement as the business grows.
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this position is based onsite in Glen Allen, Virginia.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of the accounts payable function, ensuring invoices, vendor payments, employee expense reimbursements, contractor payments, and tax-related disbursements are processed accurately and on schedule.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of five accounts payable professionals, fostering collaboration, accountability, and exceptional customer service.
- Oversee month-end accounts payable activities, including reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and timely financial reporting.
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, segregation of duties, and SOX-related requirements while identifying opportunities to strengthen existing processes.
- Evaluate and improve accounts payable procedures, policies, and system workflows to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Administer and monitor the company's employee expense reimbursement program to ensure adherence to established policies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal departments and external vendors, resolving payment-related inquiries professionally and promptly.
- Track, analyze, and report key performance indicators such as payment accuracy, invoice aging, processing efficiency, and exception trends.
- Partner closely with Accounting, Finance, Procurement, and other business leaders to support operational and strategic initiatives.
- Assist with ERP enhancements and process automation efforts that improve the overall accounts payable function.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- At least six years of progressive accounting or finance experience with significant responsibility in accounts payable.
- Five or more years of people leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and team development.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including working with large datasets, pivot tables, and complex spreadsheets.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Word.
- Experience using enterprise-level ERP systems.
- Familiarity with annual 1099 reporting and filing processes is preferred.
Salary : $80,000 - $92,000
