Job Overview
Maddie’s Pizzeria is a new grab-and-go pizza shop opening at 119 E. 96th St. in New York City, founded by experienced pizza operators. We’re looking for friendly, dependable Counter / Guest Experience team members to be the face of Maddie’s and help deliver fast, welcoming service from the moment a guest walks in.
This role combines traditional counter and cashier responsibilities with the hospitality and guest interaction of a server role. You’ll take orders, run the register, package food, coordinate pickups, and help keep guests moving quickly through a busy grab-and-go environment.
Reports To: Owner-Operator
Schedule: Full-time and part-time; lunch, dinner, and weekend availability preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests and provide friendly, efficient service
- Take and accurately enter walk-in, phone, and online orders into the POS
- Handle cash and card payments accurately
- Plate slices and package orders for takeout, pickup, and delivery
- Coordinate third-party delivery pickups and call-in orders
- Communicate clearly with the kitchen to keep orders accurate and moving on time
- Keep the counter, display case, condiment station, and guest-facing areas clean, organized, and fully stocked
- Help manage guest flow and keep lines moving quickly during busy periods
- Assist with light restocking and other front-of-house needs as required
Qualifications
- Previous cashier, counter, server, or quick-service restaurant experience preferred, but not required
- Comfortable learning and using a POS system and handling cash accurately
- Friendly, energetic, dependable, and guest-focused
- Able to multitask and stay composed during busy service periods
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Food handler certification or willingness to obtain one within 30 days
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand for shifts of up to 8 hours
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs., including supply boxes and food trays
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-traffic restaurant environment
Pay: $16.50 - $19.00 per hour
