Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Tool and Die Maker Stamping for a direct-hire opportunity. You will be an integral part of a high-volume manufacturing operation located in Skokie, IL. The primary focus of this role involves building, repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting stamping dies, with responsibilities encompassing both the creation of new dies and the support of ongoing production demands. We have openings available on 2nd and 3rd shift; however, we are willing to consider candidates seeking 1st shift for the right individual.
This role is situated within a dynamic toolroom and press environment. Your contributions will be essential in minimizing downtime, enhancing die performance, and fostering a culture of safe and efficient production practices.
Our Expectations
- Construct, put together, and fine-tune new stamping dies.
- Repair, maintain, and resolve issues with existing dies, both in the toolroom and within the press environment, to minimize production interruptions.
- Execute both scheduled and unscheduled die maintenance within the allocated timeframes.
- Perform die changeovers efficiently to keep pace with production demands.
- Pinpoint die problems and implement necessary revisions or enhancements to improve performance.
- Interpret technical drawings for tool and die construction.
- Conduct precise measurements and inspections to guarantee the quality of parts produced.
- Provide guidance and assistance to apprentices and less experienced colleagues.
- Uphold all safety regulations, quality standards, and work procedures to ensure a secure and efficient work environment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker within a stamping environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of stamping dies, including their construction, upkeep, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in performing trigonometric calculations and applying advanced shop mathematics.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and work from tool prints effectively.
- Familiarity with toolroom machinery and adherence to safe operational methods.
- Ability to manage your workload independently and effectively prioritize tasks.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Commitment to safety protocols and effective communication skills to foster a safe workplace.
