Head of Product Compliance

Can you own global product compliance end-to-end, from NPD through production?

MacGregor Black is partnering with a leading Consumer Goods business to recruit a Head of Product Compliance. We’re looking for an experienced Product Compliance professional to own end-to-end compliance across our product portfolio, with a strong focus on China-based manufacturing and retailer-specific compliance requirements, particularly Costco.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary compliance partner for China-based manufacturing facilities, supporting products from development through production.
• Own compliance review for all new product development (NPD) and multi-tier projects across global markets.
• Lead Costco-specific compliance requirements, including testing protocols, documentation, labeling, and approval processes.
• Provide regulatory compliance support for major retail channels including Costco, Walmart, Target, Amazon, and other global accounts.
• Specify, review, and approve product compliance to applicable standards including UL, FDA, BPA, Prop 65, AB 1200, CE, UKCA, REACH, RoHS, and Food Contact requirements.
• Review and approve global packaging artwork, including gift boxes, retail labels, warning statements, and regulatory markings across all languages.
• Own writing and review of User Guides, safety instructions, and compliance statements for domestic and international distribution.
• Serve as the point of contact for government regulatory agencies (e.g., CPSC) related to product safety and compliance.
• Support legal matters related to product safety, insurance claims, and regulatory inquiries as needed.
• Administer compliance systems and databases (e.g., UL WERCs, Smarter Sorting).
• Partner with internal and external test labs; evaluate returned units and support root cause analysis when required.
• Provide technical guidance and training support to Customer Service, Product Development, and Sales teams.

What We're Looking For:

• 8 years of experience in product compliance, regulatory affairs, or product safety within consumer products.
• Hands-on experience working with China-based manufacturers on compliance and production readiness.
• Proven experience supporting Costco compliance requirements and retailer-specific standards.
• Strong working knowledge of global regulatory frameworks for consumer and food-contact products.
• Experience managing compliance across multiple SKUs and international markets.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning compliance end-to-end.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate regulatory requirements to internal teams and overseas partners.
