Senior Staff Controls Engineer - Test & Automation (RELOCATION AVAILABLE)
An industry-leading, employee-focused manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Controls Engineer to join its Test & Automation Team. This position is ideal for a controls professional who enjoys designing and developing custom automated assembly and functional test systems that improve manufacturing operations through innovation, reliability, and efficiency.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing and implementing advanced automation solutions, working with technologies including Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, Fanuc, Epson and Universal Robots, as well as Cognex and Keyence vision systems. This role offers the opportunity to create one-of-a-kind automated manufacturing and testing systems by combining hardware integration, controls engineering, and software development expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy custom automation solutions incorporating motion control systems, actuators, servo presses, sensors, gauges, motors, and SCADA platforms.
- Lead the controls and electrical design of custom machinery and automated test systems for manufacturing environments.
- Ensure equipment meets quality, safety, reliability, and operational performance requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and cross-functional teams to deliver automation solutions that enhance manufacturing performance.
- Drive projects from concept through implementation and commissioning.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers while fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in industrial controls, automation, or machine design.
- Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLC programming, including Logix 5000 and RS Linx.
- Hands-on experience with robotics integration, machine vision systems, and automated equipment development.
- Proven ability to manage and deliver complex automation projects.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with engineering software and tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Power BI.
- Understanding of mistake-proofing methodologies and manufacturing best practices.

Salary : $120,000 - $200,000
