Sales Engineer


Role Overview

A growing industrial automation and system integration services organisation is seeking an experienced Sales Engineer to support the expansion of its software and automation services portfolio. This individual will engage with prospective and existing clients to understand operational challenges, propose innovative automation solutions, and drive measurable business value through consultative selling and technical expertise.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, enabling customers to successfully implement modern automation and process control strategies across manufacturing and life sciences environments.


Desired Outcomes

  • Add at least $6M in qualified opportunities to the sales pipeline annually
  • Close a minimum of $3M in revenue per year
  • Acquire five new customers, each generating at least $100k, within the first year
  • Contribute to the review and refinement of productised offerings within the first year
  • Support the review and enhancement of the sales playbook within the first year


Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of industrial automation and system integration, including best practices for implementation
  • Engage with new and existing clients to understand operational requirements and identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency, and performance
  • Align customer business objectives with technical requirements to expand relationships, grow revenue, and close new opportunities
  • Conduct initial engineering assessments and discovery activities to inform solution design and delivery strategies
  • Develop and present tailored proposals that clearly define scope, pricing, risks, and customer value
  • Architect and communicate automation and integration solutions to both technical and executive‑level stakeholders
  • Drive revenue growth through proactive account expansion and new customer acquisition
  • Coordinate internally with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure successful execution of customer engagements
  • Establish and maintain trusted, long‑term relationships with senior business and technical stakeholders
  • Collaborate with marketing to provide feedback on messaging, campaigns, and lead‑generation initiatives
  • Deliver accurate quarterly sales forecasts and maintain disciplined pipeline management
  • Ensure CRM records are accurate and up to date, including deal tracking, forecasting, and activity reporting
  • Exhibit strong written, verbal, and presentation skills across proposals, meetings, and executive discussions


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; engineering or technical discipline preferred
  • Significant experience in enterprise sales and account management
  • Experience in cross‑selling or overlay sales environments is a plus
  • Minimum 3-5 years of success as a quota‑carrying individual contributor
  • Background in services‑led and solution‑based selling, ideally within manufacturing automation
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, adaptability, and strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record closing complex, high‑value deals within life sciences or manufacturing industries
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to engage credibly at senior levels
  • Consistent achievement or overachievement of annual and quarterly sales targets
  • High attention to CRM discipline, forecasting accuracy, and business reporting
  • Ability to plan and manage complex initiatives independently while coordinating across multiple stakeholders

Salary : $80,000 - $110,000
