MEP Estimator – Design-Build Construction
This privately held design-build firm is seeking an experienced MEP Estimator to join its preconstruction and estimating team. The company delivers complex technical facilities for clients across the life sciences, pharmaceutical, and advanced technology sectors. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of building systems design and construction, with proven ability to develop complete and accurate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing cost estimates for design-build projects.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and process systems across a range of project types, including laboratories, cleanrooms, manufacturing, and office spaces.
- Collaborate with the design and engineering team throughout project development to assess constructability, value engineering options, and design alternatives.
- Review design documents, specifications, and subcontractor proposals to confirm scope and accuracy.
- Support budgeting and proposal efforts for design-build and construction management projects.
- Coordinate with project managers and procurement to ensure alignment between estimated budgets and awarded subcontractor scopes.
- Maintain relationships with trade partners and stay current with market pricing, materials, and labor trends.
- Participate in project kickoffs to ensure smooth handoff of preconstruction data to operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in MEP estimating, preferably within a design-build or technical facility environment.
- Deep understanding of building systems design, cleanroom requirements, and regulated industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Excel; familiarity with BIM, Revit, or digital takeoff tools a plus.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple estimates and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
