Mechanical Insulation Estimator

A well established sub contractor in New Castle, DE is looking for a Mechanical Insulation Estimator to calculates the cost of labor, materials, and equipment for insulating mechanical systems like HVAC piping, ductwork, and vessels. This person will analyze blueprints and specifications, perform quantity takeoffs, solicit vendor pricing, and prepare detailed bids to ensure project profitability. As an Estimator, this role requires strong mathematical skills and proficiency in estimation software.

** The ideal candidate will have Estimating experience in Insulation, Duct, and Piping **

Key Responsibilities

Quantity Takeoffs

• Perform detailed, accurate takeoffs for insulation materials including piping, fittings, and sheet metal components.

Cost Estimation

• Establish labor productivities and determine costs for materials, equipment, and subcontractors.

Project Evaluation

• Review blueprints, specifications, and site conditions.
• Attend pre-bid meetings to evaluate project scope.

Bid Preparation

• Create and submit detailed, competitive proposals.
• Ensure accuracy regarding energy efficiency and safety standards.

Vendor / Client Relations

• Maintain relationships with vendors for competitive pricing.
• Collaborate with project managers.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• 3–5 years of professional construction estimating experience, specifically in mechanical insulation.
• Proficiency in digital takeoff and estimating software such as:
• On-Screen Takeoff
• Quick Bid
• Bluebeam
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and HVAC / plumbing systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
• High level of accuracy in material takeoffs
• Ability to meet strict bid deadlines
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills
