What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Technical Support Engineer position at LHH?
LHH is currently looking for a Sr. IT Support Engineer to join a fast growing company in Portland. This position will play a key role in helping grow a managed services environment with zero technical debt and the freedom to choose modern tools and workflows. This is a hands-on, high-impact position for someone who enjoys balancing project-based work with advanced troubleshooting and client-facing support. You’ll work across multiple client environments, owning everything from infrastructure improvements and cloud initiatives to complex escalations and technical guidance for the broader team.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects and deliver infrastructure, cloud, and security solutions across diverse client environments
- Serve as a senior escalation resource and resolving complex technical issues end to end (e.g., server outages, security incidents)
- Support Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra ID, networking, backups, cloud environments and security tooling
- Tackle system-wide failures, design flaws, and issues requiring code-level intervention or infrastructure changes
- Perform root cause analysis on recurring problems, implement permanent fixes, and maintain the organization’s most critical systems.
- Partner directly with client stakeholders during high-priority or sensitive situations
- Work closely with leadership and sales-aligned technical resources while maintaining ownership of execution and delivery
- Contribute to help desk and reactive support as client volume fluctuates
- Mentor junior engineers and help raise the technical bar across the team
- Follow and help refine SLAs, SOPs, and service standards as the MSP scales
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in IT support in fast paced environments
- Prior experience in a Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment strongly preferred
- Advanced knowledge in firewall, network, and cloud administration
- Proven Tier III troubleshooting and project execution experience
- Experience with ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, ConnectWise, Jira Service Management)
- Strong working knowledge across Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, InTune, OS Devices, and Cisco Meraki
- Experience with endpoint security, MFA, backup, NOC, and disaster recovery solutions
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including routers, switches, firewalls, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities across diverse client environments
- Excellent communication, leadership, and customer service skills
- CompTIA certifications are highly preferred

Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
