The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Senior HR Business Partner to support its expanding Development & Construction organization. This newly created role will partner directly with senior construction and development leaders responsible for delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across North America. This position requires a strategic HR leader who understands the realities of construction and project-based environments. Success in this role will come from the ability to build credibility with operational leaders, influence change, drive talent initiatives, and help establish scalable people processes while preserving the culture that has enabled rapid growth. The ideal candidate will bring experience supporting construction, engineering, infrastructure, industrial, manufacturing, or similarly fast-paced operational organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Business Partnership
- Serve as the primary HR partner to senior leaders within the Development & Construction organization.
- Align people strategies with business objectives while supporting organizational growth and transformation.
- Provide coaching and consultation on talent management, organizational design, workforce planning, employee engagement, and succession planning.
- Develop trusted advisor relationships across all levels of leadership.
Change Management & Organizational Effectiveness
- Lead change management initiatives within a rapidly scaling environment.
- Help leaders successfully implement new processes, programs, and organizational initiatives.
- Influence adoption of best practices while balancing business needs and operational realities.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts that support sustainable growth.
Leadership Coaching & Development
- Coach leaders on performance management, employee relations, talent development, and leadership effectiveness.
- Partner with management to identify skill gaps and create development strategies.
- Support succession planning and leadership pipeline development.
Talent Strategy
- Partner with business leaders to assess current and future talent needs.
- Drive workforce planning initiatives aligned with aggressive growth objectives.
- Collaborate closely with Talent Acquisition, Compensation, and other HR Centers of Excellence.
- Support onboarding, retention, and engagement initiatives.
Performance & Employee Experience
- Champion a high-performance culture through objective setting, feedback, talent reviews, and annual performance processes.
- Utilize analytics and workforce data to identify trends and recommend solutions.
- Drive employee engagement and retention strategies.
Compliance & HR Program Delivery
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, policies, and company procedures.
- Partner with broader HR teams to implement and execute people programs effectively.
- Maintain consistency in HR practices while supporting the unique needs of the business unit.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or related field.
- 10 years of progressive HR Business Partner experience.
- Experience supporting construction, engineering, infrastructure, industrial, manufacturing, or project-driven organizations.
- Strong change management and organizational development experience.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive business outcomes through people strategies.
- Experience supporting organizations undergoing significant growth and transformation.
Preferred
- Master's degree.
- SPHR, PHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent certification.
- Experience in large-scale development or construction environments.
- Experience partnering with geographically dispersed teams.
