What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at LHH?
LHH is partnering with a well-established and growing construction company in the Sacramento area seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. This is a high-impact role supporting financial operations, project accounting, and leadership reporting in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including month-end and year-end close
- Prepare and review financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow)
- Perform general ledger reconciliations and maintain account accuracy
- Support and oversee job costing, WIP schedules, and project financial tracking
- Partner with Project Managers to analyze project budgets vs. actuals and forecast performance
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and intercompany transactions
- Assist with audit preparation and collaborate with external auditors
- Monitor and improve internal controls and accounting processes
- Support cash flow management, banking activity, and treasury functions
- Generate ad hoc financial reports, variance analysis, and forecasting models
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience
- Construction, project-based, or job costing experience required
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Hands-on experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling)
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint, Sage, or similar) preferred
- CPA or CPA-eligible is a plus
