What are the responsibilities and job description for the Project Accountant position at LHH?
Overview
Oversee financial and administrative functions for multiple construction projects. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, payment processing, vendor management, draw requests, and project documentation while working closely with project managers, subcontractors, and lenders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit owner pay applications and subcontractor payment requests.
- Monitor budgets, commitments, change orders, and cost-to-complete forecasts.
- Maintain job cost ledgers and verify proper invoice coding.
- Coordinate lender draw requests and reconcile billings, retention, and receipts.
- Organize project documentation and assist with closeout requirements.
- Serve as the primary liaison between accounting, project teams, and external partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–5 years of experience in construction accounting or project administration.
- Strong understanding of job cost accounting, AIA billing, and construction contracts.
- Proficiency with Procore Financials, Procore Pay, Sage 300, Timberline, and Excel.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
Preferred
- Experience with lender-funded projects, compliance reporting, and lien law requirements.
- Familiarity with insurance compliance; Notary certification is a plus.
