What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Specialist position at LHH?
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our client’s team on the east side of Pittsburgh, PA. This contract-to-hire role is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing across multiple locations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with payroll systems and a strong understanding of multi-state payroll operations. This is a fast-paced, quick-moving environment where you will own the payroll process.
Responsibilities:
- Process bi-weekly payroll for employees across several locations (hourly, salaried, and commission)
- Review and reconcile payroll data, including timekeeping, deductions, garnishments, and direct deposits
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Coordinate with HR and accounting teams to ensure accurate employee records and reporting
- Prepare payroll and 401K reports; assist with audits as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information
Qualifications:
- 3 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-location environment
- Experience with ADP, Paycom, UKG, or other large payroll systems
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and best practices
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
