What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Accountant position at LHH?
LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for a Payroll Accountant for one of our customers located in San Jose, California. This position is 100% in-office! The ideal candidate will have strong payroll skills and have excellent general accounting abilities. This position will report to the Controller and be a part of a small team. The role be responsible for managing a biweekly payroll of 250 employees and supporting general ledger month and year-end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, assist with the audit preparation, and support with other duties in the accounting department as well as assigned projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required
- Payroll experience comfortable processing a biweekly payroll (200 employees)
- Solid payroll foundation understanding Payroll Tax Regulations, Labor Cost Allocations, California Labor Laws
- Comfortable with your debits and credits and GAAPs (reconciliations, journal entries, month-end close)
- Industry experience in a Non-Profit would be nice to have
- Payroll software experience with Paycom preferred. Proficiency with a third party payroll software platform such as ADP, Paylocity, UKG is good
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Outlook, Excel – Intermediate/Advanced)
- Excellent communications (verbal & written)
- Detailed, reliable, organized, and confidential
- Team player, able to multi-task, prioritize, gets the work done with a positive attitude
Experience: 5 years of payroll experience and 2 years of general ledger accounting experience (Payroll Accountant, Payroll Manager, Payroll Specialist)
