Network Systems Engineer II
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract-to-Hire
Compensation: $100,000 – $110,000 base Annual bonus
About the Role
LHH is seeking a Network Systems Engineer II for a global industrial organization undergoing major infrastructure modernization. This hybrid role (onsite M/W/F) is ideal for an analytical, hands‑on engineer who enjoys solving complex networking challenges, working collaboratively across teams, and taking ownership of both daily operations and long-term initiatives. The position blends network design, troubleshooting, leadership-by-influence, and cross‑functional partnership to improve network reliability, security, and performance.

Key Responsibilities
• Support, design, and troubleshoot enterprise and global network environments across LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, DNS, VoIP, and subnetting infrastructures
• Serve as a point of escalation for 2nd–3rd level networking issues and participate in root cause analysis
• Assist with firewall administration, security oversight, and proactive risk mitigation
• Partner with IT leadership, technical teams, and global stakeholders to deliver network upgrades, implementations, and standards
• Create and maintain technical documentation, configuration standards, and system diagrams
• Monitor network performance, capacity, and reliability, recommending improvements where needed
• Participate in cross-functional projects, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to a collaborative learning environment
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience acceptable
• 2 years of hands‑on experience in network engineering within enterprise environments
• Strong foundational knowledge of routing, switching, and system design principles
• Experience with LAN/WAN/WLAN/VPN/SD‑WAN and standard network troubleshooting methodologies
• Hands‑on experience with Cisco-based environments (routing/switching required; wireless a plus)
• Experience with firewalls such as Fortinet, Cisco ASA, or comparable platforms
• Familiarity with DNS, subnetting, and enterprise network fundamentals
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across technical and non‑technical teams
• Coachable, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to take initiative with minimal oversight
Preferred:
• Cisco training or certifications (CCNA, CCNP)
• Exposure to Cisco DNA, Cisco ISE, virtualized environments, or Microsoft technologies (Azure, O365, Teams/VoIP)
