What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer position at LHH?
LHH is conducting a search for an Electrical Engineer for our client to support industrial product and manufacturing operations through hands-on power distribution design. This role is responsible for owning electrical designs from a blank sheet through issued-for-construction documentation, ensuring systems are accurate, code-compliant, and buildable without downstream engineering intervention.
Location: Tulsa, OK
Work Model: Monday–Friday, fully onsite (up to 5 remote days per month)
Compensation: $110,000 – $125,000 base salary, plus eligibility for an annual company performance bonus
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop one-line diagrams from customer specifications and load lists
- Design panelboards, MCCs, and switchgear configurations for 480V industrial power systems
- Perform raceway fill calculations for conduit, wireway, and cable tray
- Create panelboard schedules from load data
- Generate raceway and conductor schedules from one-lines and general arrangement drawings
- Review and approve OEM MCC, switchgear, and VFD proposals and drawings for purchasing and construction
- Ensure all designs meet applicable electrical and building codes, with NEC as the baseline
- This role requires independent technical judgment and the ability to design complete systems from first principles rather than modifying legacy drawings.
Qualifications:
- 4 years of industrial electrical design experience with a focus on power distribution
- Hands-on experience with 480V systems, including motors, drives, and industrial distribution
- Proven ability to design from scratch in real-world industrial environments
- Proficiency with AutoCAD LT or comparable 2D electrical CAD software
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related ABET-accredited field
- Demonstrated experience producing code-compliant designs (NEC minimum)
- Candidates without direct industrial power design exposure will not be considered viable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Medium-voltage experience (up to approximately 5kV)
- Experience designing for manufacturing environments where drawings must be immediately buildable
- Familiarity with IBC, IMC, IECC, and NFPA 70
- EIT certification or PE license
This opportunity offers a clearly defined technical growth path from Electrical Engineer to Product Engineer and ultimately Principal Engineer, with strong internal support for licensure, mentorship, and long-term technical leadership. It is well-suited for engineers who want depth, ownership, and sustained technical impact.
