About the Role
LHH is working with their client, a leading membership-based organization to find an experienced, dynamic Communications Director to join its team. This is a high-impact role responsible for shaping and executing the organization’s communications strategy, supporting key priorities, and enhancing its reputation among stakeholders, media, and the public. This role has a lot of runway and growth potential as well as exposure to key stakeholders. This position is hybrid flexible in the Arlington area and will require a candidate to be local, with ability to go into the office on an "as needed" basis depending on events, etc.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement integrated communications campaigns aligned with organizational goals.
- Provide strategic counsel to leadership and staff on public relations and communications matters.
- Manage media relations, including proactive outreach and rapid response to emerging issues.
- Oversee content creation for digital, print, and social channels.
- Lead crisis communications and issue management efforts.
- Foster relationships with media, peer organizations, and key stakeholders.
- Support events, meetings, and thought leadership initiatives.
- Monitor and report on communications performance using analytics.
- Manage communications budget and resources.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public policy, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in communications, public affairs, or a related field.
- Proven track record of leading successful communications campaigns.
- Experience with crisis communications and media relations.
- Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Collaborative, proactive, and results-oriented approach.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and digital communications tools.
Preferred
- Experience working in a membership-based, nonprofit, or association environment.
- Background in managing communications for complex organizations or industries.
Salary : $110,000 - $125,000
