We are seeking a Controller to join a growing specialty finance organization. This leadership role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will oversee core accounting operations, ensure regulatory compliance, and partner closely with leadership to support strategic financial initiatives.
The ideal candidate will bring 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including time in a Controller or similar leadership role, along with strong technical accounting expertise and a proven ability to lead teams in fast-paced environments. Experience within commercial lending, equipment finance, or specialty finance is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
• Lead month-end close, financial statement preparation, and GAAP-compliant reporting
• Oversee, mentor, and develop the accounting team to ensure accuracy and timeliness
• Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Manage the annual audit process and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors
• Partner with executive leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Monitor debt covenants and maintain cash flow forecasts
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses to support strategic business decisions
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
Client Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
• 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller-level or equivalent leadership experience
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including GAAP and financial reporting
• Proven experience leading audits and managing external audit relationships
• Experience in commercial lending, equipment finance, or specialty finance environments strongly preferred
• Advanced Excel proficiency and strong analytical capabilities
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
