LHH Professional Recruitment is hiring for a Benefits Specialist role with a company located in Seattle, WA. This is an excellent opportunity for a benefits professional with strong experience supporting health & welfare plans and retirement administration who enjoys working in a collaborative, service-oriented environment. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide consultation and guidance on benefits-related matters, including eligibility, policy interpretation, and regulatory compliance.
Benefits Specialist Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for employee and manager questions related to health & welfare and retirement benefits
- Review benefit elections to confirm eligibility requirements and accurately process changes within the HRIS
- Partner with managers and internal teams to ensure benefit eligibility and coverage are administered correctly
- Support new hire benefits orientations and annual open enrollment activities
- Assist with the preparation and submission of eligibility and payroll files to benefit vendors
- Receive, reconcile, and submit payment requests for benefit vendor invoices
- Support audits, regulatory reporting, and documentation related to benefit plans
- Maintain high standards of data accuracy, confidentiality, and customer service
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of benefits administration experience
- Experience supporting health & welfare and retirement plans
- Strong understanding of benefits compliance and eligibility requirements
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with a strong customer service focus
- Ability to communicate complex benefit concepts clearly and professionally
- Working knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations impacting benefit plans, including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, USERRA, and PPACA (ACA)
Benefits:
- Personal Time Off (PTO) is offered on an accrual basis up to 120 hours a year with an increase after tenure, 9 Paid Holidays, and up to 6 weeks of Paid Parental Leave (Washington State). PTO and holiday hours are prorated based on hire date within the calendar year.
- Paid Sick Leave where applicable by State law
- Benefit offerings for full-time employment include medical, dental, vision, term life and AD&D insurance, short-term and long-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, and a 401k plan or a non-qualified deferred compensation plan
