LHH is working with a client in the real estate/construction industry to identify a permanent Accounting Associate for their Chicago office (near River North). Role: Accounting Associate
Location: Chicago, IL (near River North)
Position Type: Permanent
Salary: $70,000 – $75,000
Worksite Type: fully onsite
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and enter invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper coding
- Process weekly payment runs, including checks, ACH, and wire transfers
- Manage utility accounts and complete credit card statement reconciliations
- Process accounts payable and employee expense reimbursements
- Investigate and resolve invoice and payment discrepancies
- Maintain organized financial records, both digital and physical
- Assist with bank deposits and cash applications
- Support month-end close activities, including reconciliations and journal entries
- Prepare and post entries to the general ledger
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on accounting experience (real estate or construction industry experience required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Familiarity with general accounting principles and procedures
- Ability to analyze data and solve problems independently
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Preferred: Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Yardi, or Concur
