Accounting Assistant – Accounts Payable Focus

About the Role
Our pharmaceutical client in Trenton, NJ is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant with a strong focus on Accounts Payable (AP). This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working with numbers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and verify vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Match purchase orders, invoices, and receipts for proper documentation.
- Prepare and execute weekly check runs and electronic payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Assist with month-end closing activities related to AP.
- Maintain accurate records and filing systems for AP transactions.
- Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve payment issues.
- Support the accounting team with additional administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
- Experience: 1–3 years of Accounts Payable or general accounting experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (ERP experience a plus).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
