Job Summary
The Asset Retention Specialist is responsible for managing a portfolio of financed insurance policies that have entered cancellation status due to non-payment. This role focuses on recovering outstanding balances, validating returned premiums, and maintaining accurate records while working closely with insurance partners and customers.
This is a highly structured, desk-based position combining elements of accounts receivable, policy administration, and customer service. Most of the daily work is conducted via email and requires strong attention to detail, consistency, and follow-through.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of financed insurance policies that have canceled due to missed payments
- Confirm policy cancellations and ensure appropriate return premiums are received
- Review documentation to validate returned premium amounts and financial accuracy
- Reconcile balances and identify discrepancies
- Collect outstanding balances when return premiums do not fully satisfy amounts owed
- Communicate with insurance carriers, agencies, and occasionally insured individuals
- Perform light, non-aggressive collections work (non-commissioned)
- Maintain accurate and detailed records within internal systems
- Consistently document all activity and follow established procedures
- Approximately 80% of work is email-based
- Some inbound and outbound phone communication
- Fully desk-based role with no field work
- Structured, repeatable workflow with defined processes
- Background in accounts receivable, billing, bookkeeping, entry-level accounting, or financial customer service preferred
- Insurance industry experience is not required
- Prior collections experience is acceptable if aligned with a non-commissioned, relationship-based approach
- Candidates seeking traditional sales or bonus-driven collections roles may not be a fit
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfort working with numbers and reconciling balances
- Ability to identify inconsistencies and escalate issues appropriately
- Strong written communication skills
- Ability to work independently for extended periods
- Comfort with repetitive, structured, and routine work
- Basic Excel proficiency
- Heavy daily use of Outlook for email communication
- Basic Microsoft Word skills
- Training provided on internal systems
- Full-time, in-office role based in Spokane, WA
- Standard business hours
- Ability to remain focused at a desk for a full 8-hour workday
- Interaction with partners and customers nationwide
