Overview
Our client, a well-established construction company based in Ontario, CA, is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join their accounting team. This role requires hands-on construction industry experience, including billing, collections, and working with construction-specific documentation and processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle Accounts Receivable for construction projects, including invoicing, cash application, and collections
- Process and post payments (ACH, wire, checks, credit cards) accurately and timely
- Prepare and submit progress billing and/or T&M billing as required
- Support AIA billing and work within customer or GC portals when applicable
- Monitor AR aging reports and follow up on past-due balances
- Handle collections professionally while maintaining strong client relationships
- Assist with preliminary notices, lien waivers/releases, and other construction-related documentation
- Research and resolve billing discrepancies, short pays, and payment issues
- Collaborate with project managers, operations, and accounting teams to ensure accurate billing and timely collections
- Maintain organized and audit-ready AR records
- 2 years of Accounts Receivable experience within the construction industry (required)
- Experience with construction billing processes (progress billing, job costing, T&M)
- Strong background in collections and cash application
- Proficiency with Excel and accounting/ERP systems
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
