Job Title: CHILD NUTRITION ACCOUNTANT/OFFICE MANAGER
Qualifications
- High school Diploma or its equivalent
- Proficiency in the use of microcomputer, mainframe computer terminal and other business machines
- Two years experience working in the USDA Child Nutrition Program Operations (desirable)
- Good communication and mathematical skills
- Ability to prioritize goals and be self-motivated
Reports to: CHILD NUTRITION SUPERVISOR
Salary Schedule: CNUT 7 Accountant/Office Mgr
Specific Job Duties
(1) Compiles information from the SFS 7, SFS 7A, losses, transfers, cash and meals report, edit check, participation report, inventory of food, supplies, and equipment, deposits, and sends the SFS 8A, SFS 8B, and SFS 8C reports to the state department;
(2) Compiles figures for the yearly Schedule A report;
(3) Maintains a running balance of all meals, commodities, kitchen supplies and food;
(4) Maintains summary of operation reports, spreadsheets of income and expense, average daily participation, labor allocation, average meal cost for each school, and snack program;
(5) Calculates allocations each year for all schools;
(6) Maintains a complete and systematic set of records of all financial transactions for the Child Nutrition Program;
(7) Summarizes and balance entries recorded in individual accounts;
(8) Traces errors and records adjustment to correct charges or credits posted to incorrect amounts;
(9) Reconciles bank statements and verifies bank balance with statements;
(10) Sends monthly bills to outside agencies when needed;
(11) Maintains records and reports for summer feeding program;
(12) Checks alpha and debit lists;
(13) Assist supervisor with yearly budget for the Child Nutrition Department;
(14) Maintains labor budget for Child Nutrition;
(15) Trains and supervises office staff;
(16) Adheres to Board Policies and administrative rules and regulations;
(17) Maintains a record of all office employees’ vacation and sick leave;
(18) Compiles hours worked for substitute cafeteria employees and sends recap sheet to payroll;
(19) Writes up accounts payable vouchers for labor and benefits;
(20) Maintains the checkbook for the Child Nutrition Department and Courtesy Fund;
(21) Maintains property accounting for office and cafeterias;
(22) Responsible for coordinating and maintaining USDA Semi Annual Employee Certification forms;
(23) Provides information to auditors and implements any recommendations;
(24) Performs all other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or by Superintendent

(7) Participates in professional growth activities, such as participation in seminars, conferences, workshops for improvement of knowledge and skills relating to best practices in the use of supplies, tools or equipment, and methods of operation
(8) Participates in professional activities on a local, state, and national level in assigned areas (include for appropriate personnel)
(9) Performs all other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or by Superintendent
Communication
(1) Understands and interprets written and verbal instructions from immediate supervisor and gives clear written and oral instructions to others as required
(2) Accurately compiles data, summarizes information and provides written reports when required
(3) Answers the telephone and receives visitors in a courteous and efficient manner
(4) Follows the chain of command for various administrative procedures
Attendance and Punctuality
(1) Reports to work at the assigned time
(2) Attends work consistently
(3) Contacts Supervisor when absent
(4) Scans in or out using the employee scan system as appropriate
Safety
(1) Completes task in a safe manner as prescribed by the Safety Department or by the employee's profession/craft
(2) Maintains a neat and orderly work environment
(3) Dresses appropriately for the job assigned and in compliance with state law and board policy GAMB Employee Dress Code
(4) Displays employee ID tag at all times while on duty
(5) Reports any unsafe conditions or any incidents of injury or damage immediately to the appropriate official
(6) Complies with policies GAMA Employee Tobacco Use and GAMD Drug-Free Workplace when on duty
Terms of Employment
7½ hours per day - 12 months (240 days)
There shall be a probationary period of 90 days from date of employment for new employees. After 90 days, a decision based upon an evaluation will be rendered in regards to the employee’s status as a permanent employee.
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of non-instructional personnel
The Superintendent reserves the right to change the job and any other duties, as required, with advance written notification.
*Annual Salary is based on years of experience (0-40), with increases for advanced degrees.
