Overview

A leading global investment bank is seeking an experienced Investment Banking Associate to join its NYC office for the Financial Restructuring group. The firm provides independent strategic and financial advice to corporations, financial sponsors, and other institutional clients across mergers and acquisitions, capital solutions, financial restructuring, valuation, and other advisory services.

This is a dynamic opportunity for a highly motivated Associate to work closely with senior bankers on client coverage, transaction execution, marketing initiatives, and new business development. The role offers significant exposure to senior leadership, sophisticated clients, and complex transactions, with the opportunity to become increasingly client-facing over time.

The Opportunity

The Associate will support senior bankers in developing and executing strategic advisory and financing solutions for clients. Responsibilities will include preparing analyses, presentations, and marketing materials; coordinating with internal industry and product teams; supporting transaction execution; and contributing to business development and origination efforts.

The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical and financial skills, excellent communication abilities, a collaborative mindset, and the maturity to interact effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior bankers in advising clients on M&A, financing, capital structure, valuation, and other strategic financial matters.
  • Prepare financial analyses, ad hoc reports, presentation materials, and marketing documents to support client discussions and origination efforts.
  • Assist with transaction execution, including financial modeling, due diligence coordination, process management, and preparation of client deliverables.
  • Collaborate with internal industry sector teams and product groups, including capital solutions, debt and equity financing, restructuring, valuation, and advisory teams.
  • Help coordinate cross-functional resources to deliver comprehensive, high-quality advisory services to clients.
  • Conduct company, industry, market, and transaction research to support deal execution and business development.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
  • Build strong internal relationships and contribute to a culture of collaboration, integrity, and excellence.
  • Support client relationship development and broader business development initiatives.
  • Demonstrate a structured, entrepreneurial approach to identifying opportunities and supporting firmwide growth.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree with strong academic performance.
  • 5 years of professional experience.
  • At least 2 years of investment banking experience, preferably at a leading M&A boutique, investment bank, financing team, corporate development group, or related advisory platform.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and financial acumen.
  • Experience with financial modeling, valuation, transaction analysis, and preparation of client materials.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships across all levels of an organization.
  • High-impact, low-ego personality with a natural ability to collaborate.
  • Exceptional work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, think critically, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort using AI tools and technology to streamline workflows and improve productivity.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and ability to think strategically and independently.
  • Maturity and executive presence to interact effectively with clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in business development, relationship management, and long-term client coverage.
