Position Summary
The Entry Writer is responsible for preparing and submitting customs entries, ensuring compliance with import regulations, and maintaining accurate records for international shipments. This role supports smooth cargo clearance by verifying documentation, monitoring compliance requirements, and resolving issues with carriers, brokers, and regulatory agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and file customs entries in compliance with U.S. Customs regulations
- Review commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and HTSUS classifications for accuracy
- Communicate with clients, carriers, and customs brokers to resolve entry-related issues
- Monitor entry status and ensure timely clearance of goods through Customs
- Maintain accurate entry records and documentation for audit readiness
- Assist in classification and valuation of goods for customs purposes
- Identify and escalate compliance issues or discrepancies to supervisors
- Support ongoing compliance with trade regulations, tariffs, and partner government agency requirements
This role is hybrid. Hours are 8:45am-5:00pm Monday-Friday.
Qualifications:Education
- High School diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in customs brokerage, entry writing, or international trade preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of U.S. Customs entry requirements and HTSUS classification
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation
- Proficiency with customs entry software and Microsoft Office tools
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- CES certification or progress toward certification preferred
