The Transportation Manager will lead and oversee the daily operations of a growing company’s transportation network. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on management to ensure cost-effective, compliant, and customer-focused delivery services. Success in this position requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of logistics.
What are the responsibilities?
As a Transportation Manager, you will:
- Direct day-to-day operations, including route planning, driver coordination, and fleet oversight
- Track key transportation costs and identify opportunities for savings
- Implement efficient shipping strategies and delivery methods
- Ensure full compliance with transportation safety and labor regulations
- Coordinate with internal teams to maintain smooth delivery and distribution operations
- Maintain comprehensive records of fleet activities and vehicle maintenance
- Lead driver training initiatives focused on safety and service excellence
- Analyze performance metrics using routing and logistics software
- Foster a high-performance team culture centered on accountability and improvement
- Collaborate with leadership to resolve operational challenges and drive growth
What are the requirements?
- 4 years in transportation, logistics, or distribution management
- Experience with DOT and regulatory compliance
- Proficient in route optimization tools (e.g., RoadNet) and Excel
- Demonstrated ability to manage transportation budgets and reduce costs
- Experience with GPS systems, fleet software, and data analysis
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain a DOT Medical Card
- P&L management experience is a plus
