Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation: Utilize your expertise to accurately estimate the costs associated with construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses.
- Bid Preparation: Prepare comprehensive and competitive bids for construction projects, ensuring they align with client requirements and project specifications.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Management: Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services, negotiate contracts, and maintain strong working relationships.
- Project Planning Support: Work closely with project managers and engineers to develop detailed project plans and budgets, providing valuable insights to optimize project efficiency and profitability.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties in construction projects, evaluate their impact on project costs, and develop strategies to mitigate risks effectively.
- Cost Analysis and Reporting: Analyze project costs, variance, and profitability to provide accurate and timely reports to management, enabling informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in construction estimation, and contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes and methodologies within the organization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator, with a strong track record of successfully estimating and bidding on construction projects.
- Proficiency in construction estimation software and tools, such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or RSMeans.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex project specifications and drawings accurately.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively collaborate with internal teams, clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes/regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality or accuracy.
- Professional certification (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator - CPE) is a plus.
