We’re looking for an experienced Welder to join our manufacturing team in Tampa. This is a hands-on position for someone who can independently set up and operate welding equipment, fit and assemble metal components, perform production welding, and inspect completed work for quality and accuracy.

You will be responsible for welding and fabricating metal components and assemblies in accordance with blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and production requirements. This includes preparing and fitting materials, setting up welding equipment, completing required welds, checking finished work, and identifying or correcting issues that could affect quality or production.

What You Will Do

• Review blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and production requirements before beginning each job.
• Verify materials, components, part numbers, and applicable dimensions before beginning fabrication or welding.
• Set up and operate welding equipment using the appropriate settings, consumables, and techniques for the work being performed.
• Prepare, fit, position, align, clamp, and assemble metal components before and during welding.
• Perform production welding in accordance with JSG requirements and assigned work.
• Follow required weld locations, sizes, lengths, sequences, and other applicable specifications.
• Use measuring tools, squares, gauges, and other inspection tools to verify fit-up, alignment, dimensions, and completed work.
• Visually inspect completed welds and assemblies for weld quality, completeness, proper location, fit, alignment, and visible defects.
• Make appropriate welding-equipment and work-method adjustments when needed to maintain quality and production requirements.
• Identify and report material, dimensional, weld, equipment, quality, or production concerns.
• Correct or rework welds and fabricated components as directed.
• Use grinders and other applicable hand, power, and fabrication tools to prepare, finish, or clean welded components.
• Identify completed parts and maintain required production records and documentation.
• Operate a forklift or other material-handling equipment when properly trained and authorized.
• Keep welding equipment, tools, work surfaces, and assigned work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Follow JSG safety procedures, work instructions, production schedules, quality requirements, and supervisory direction.

What We Are Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, metalworking, or similar production environment.
• Demonstrated ability to independently set up and operate welding equipment and consistently produce acceptable welds.
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints, drawings, work instructions, dimensions, weld locations, part orientation, and material information.
• Knowledge of welding fundamentals, including joint preparation, fit-up, positioning, equipment settings, and welding techniques.
• Ability to fit, align, position, and assemble metal components.
• Comfortable using tape measures, squares, gauges, and other measuring and inspection tools.
• Ability to inspect completed work and identify visible weld defects, dimensional concerns, improper fit-up, missing welds, and other quality concerns.
• Ability to safely use grinders, hand tools, power tools, and other applicable fabrication equipment.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain consistent quality during production work.
• Able to stay organized and manage multiple parts, assemblies, and production requirements.
• Able to work independently and as part of a manufacturing team.
• Able to obtain and maintain JSG-required forklift training and authorization when needed.

Preferred Experience

In addition to required welding experience, experience in any of the following areas would be helpful:

• Welding fabricated sheet-metal components, frames, enclosures, or assemblies
• Fitting and assembling fabricated metal components prior to welding
• Reading manufacturing blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld information
• Using measuring and inspection tools in a fabrication environment
• Using grinders and other metal fabrication tools and equipment
• Working with manufacturing machinery and other mechanical equipment

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

This is a hands-on manufacturing and fabrication position, and you’ll be on your feet for much of the workday. The job regularly involves standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and repetitive hand and arm movements associated with welding, fabrication, and material handling.

You must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, and/or move materials, components, tools, and parts weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Material-handling equipment or team lifting is used for heavier or oversized items.

The position works in an active manufacturing and fabrication environment around welding equipment, fabrication machinery, grinders, hand and power tools, forklifts, metal components, and moving equipment. The work involves exposure to welding arc and light, sparks, hot metal and surfaces, fumes, noise, metal materials, machinery, and other normal conditions associated with welding and manufacturing. Required PPE and JSG safety procedures must be followed.
