A growing and reputable civil engineering firm is seeking a dedicated and skilled Civil Design Engineer/Project Manager to join their close-knit team. In this role, you will be instrumental in delivering comprehensive infrastructure and subdivision site plan projects, including water, sewer, stormwater, and road systems.
You'll have the opportunity to work on large-scale developments while collaborating with city and county agencies, playing a key part in shaping the future of the Bozeman area's built environment. This position offers a unique blend of hands-on engineering design and project coordination responsibilities—ideal for someone eager to grow into a leadership role while working in a supportive, outdoors-oriented company culture.
What You'll Actually Do:
- Design and develop infrastructure projects, including water, sewer, stormwater, and road systems
- Prepare and submit permitting documentation to state and local agencies, ensuring compliance with regulations
- Manage subdivision site plan work, coordinating infrastructure design and related paperwork for city and county approvals
- Perform preliminary calculations and prepare documentation to support subdivision entitlements and approvals
- Collaborate closely with project managers, clients, and review agencies to maintain strong professional relationships
- Provide guidance and oversight to junior staff and field personnel, ensuring quality and accuracy in design and project execution
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to problem-solving and project planning efforts
- Balance independent work with proactive communication to ensure alignment with project goals and company standards
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:
- Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering
- 5–15 years of Civil Engineering/land development experience
- Experience with subdivision entitlements
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with HEC-RAS and WaterCAD a bonus
- PE license needed in the state of MT
- Strong self-starter with excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks independently
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with clients, review agencies, and team members
- Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines while maintaining quality
- Willingness to grow into a management role and guide junior staff as needed
Where and How Much:
- Target Compensation Up to $155K DOE (mix of base bonus or all base)
- 100% in Bozeman office with flexibility
