Position Overview
ISS is seeking a Construction Safety Manager to support a short-term industrial outage project at a paper facility in Lewiston, ID. This role will provide field-based safety oversight during critical maintenance work, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and safe execution of high-risk activities.
This is a fast-paced outage environment requiring an experienced safety professional who can operate independently, engage directly with skilled trades, and maintain strong situational awareness throughout the project lifecycle.
Project Scope
- Industrial outage work within an active paper facility
- Maintenance and repair work on heating systems and piping infrastructure
- Involves pipefitters, ironworkers, boilermakers, and laborers
- High-intensity, short-duration project with elevated safety risk profile
Key Responsibilities
Safety Oversight
- Enforce OSHA safety standards and site-specific safety requirements
- Conduct daily field audits, hazard assessments, and safety observations
- Monitor high-risk activities associated with outage and maintenance work
- Lead or support toolbox talks, safety meetings, and incident investigations
Field Engagement
- Provide direct safety support to trades, including ironworkers, boilermakers, and laborers
- Maintain a visible presence in the field to identify and mitigate risks proactively
- Partner with site leadership to ensure safe work execution under tight timelines
Compliance & Reporting
- Document safety observations, incidents, and corrective actions
- Ensure adherence to company and client safety protocols
- Support reporting requirements and communication with project stakeholders
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of construction or industrial safety experience
- Prior experience supporting outage, shutdown, or maintenance projects strongly preferred
- Background working in industrial or manufacturing environments
Certifications
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification (Required)

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Rate: $50/hour
- Overtime Rate: $75/hour
- Per Diem: $175/day
- Overtime expected (60-hour work weeks)
Work Environment & Requirements
- Industrial facility environment with active outage conditions
- Travel via personal vehicle required
- Standard PPE required (provided as needed)
- Computer/equipment provided
- Background check required
