Job Title: Data Center Construction Safety Manager

Location: Manassas, VA

Project Duration: 12 months (anticipated through April 2027)

Start Date: April 17, 2026

Schedule: 40 hours/week, no OT

Position Overview

ISS is seeking a Data Center Construction Safety Manager to support a large-scale construction program in Manassas, VA. This role will act as an Owner’s Representative, partnering closely with General Contractors (GCs) across a multi-building campus to ensure safety excellence and adherence to our clients' standards.

The selected consultant will join an established project alongside an existing Safety Manager, splitting oversight responsibilities across a complex consisting of 11 buildings and 3 general contractors. This is a high-visibility role requiring strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills to maintain and enhance an already positive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

Project Oversight

• Serve as the site-level representative of Construction Management (Owner’s Rep)
• Oversee multiple construction sites across the same campus
• Conduct regular site walks, safety observations, and audits
• Participate in and lead safety meetings and reporting activities
• Collaborate with multiple GCs to ensure consistent safety execution

Safety Management

• Ensure implementation and adherence to Safety Management Systems
• Measure and evaluate GC compliance with H&S standards
• Perform daily observation, assessment, and analysis of construction activities
• Provide actionable feedback and coaching to improve safety performance

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build strong working relationships with GCs, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
• Act as a trusted partner and approachable safety leader on-site
• Deliver presentations and communicate effectively with leadership and field personnel
• Promote a proactive, positive safety culture aligned with our client’s expectations

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in a construction safety management role
• Experience in data center, industrial, civil, or technology construction preferred
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects or sites simultaneously
• Prior experience in an Owner’s Representative role strongly preferred

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
• OR
• Equivalent experience (5 years in relevant H&S roles)

Certifications

• Preferred: CHST or CSP (Not required but strongly valued for this senior-level role)

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $120,000 annually
• PTO: 120 hours
• Per Diem: $150/day

Work Environment & Requirements

• Travel between multiple job sites (via personal vehicle)
• Standard construction PPE required
• Must provide own laptop (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Work schedule: 5 days/week, 40 hours
