Overview
ISS is seeking an Environmental Specialist to support a manufacturing facility in Kent, WA, for a global leader in advanced composite materials used in aerospace, defense, and industrial applications.
This role will serve as an on-site environmental resource, supporting compliance programs, regulatory reporting, and chemical management within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position is open due to a staffing transition and requires a candidate who can step in quickly and operate independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support site environmental compliance programs in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations
- Maintain and support ISO 14001 environmental management system requirements
- Oversee hazardous waste program as a Large Quantity Generator (LQG)
- Support compliance with PSCAA air permits (non-Title V)
- Ensure compliance with stormwater requirements (no exposure permit)
- Prepare and submit Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) report (due in July)
- Conduct new chemical evaluations and support ongoing chemical approval processes
- Manage chemical inventory and ensure proper handling, storage, and documentation
- Partner with operations and shop floor personnel to reinforce environmental compliance and best practices
- Support audits, inspections, and internal reporting requirements
Qualifications
Required:
- Experience supporting environmental compliance in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, state/local)
- Experience with hazardous waste management (LQG preferred)
- Familiarity with air permitting and reporting requirements
- Ability to operate independently and manage multiple compliance programs
Preferred:
- ISO 14001 experience
- Experience with TRI reporting
- Background in chemical management or EHS support in manufacturing environments
