What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator position at Insight Global?
Insight Global is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to develop accurate and competitive estimates for electrical construction projects, including apartments, hotels, luxury residential, and office buildings. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with project managers and vendors to ensure proposals align with scope, schedule, and margin targets.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Review RFPs, plans/specifications, and addenda; perform detailed takeoffs for power, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage systems, and gear
- Build comprehensive estimates including labor units, productivity factors, material pricing, equipment, permits, temporary power, and GC requirements
- Solicit, level, and negotiate vendor/subcontractor quotes; qualify scope and exclusions
- Prepare bid proposals, scopes of work, and clarifications
- Coordinate with Project Managers and field teams on means/methods, prefabrication, and constructability
- Update estimate assumptions, risk registers, and contingency plans
- Transition awarded projects to operations, support buyout and budget handoff
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3-7 yrs experience in electrical estimating (Prefer commercial or multi-family projects)
- Proficiency in electrical systems (power, lighting, fire alarm, low-voltage)
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and codes
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in pricing and scope evaluation
Compensation: $90K–$140K. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
