Insight Global is looking for an entry level Engineer I to sit in Brandon, FL, with any experience or interest in learning the power distribution & utilities engineering industry. This a 12 month contract-to-hire, meaning you will be converted full time (which includes PTO, Holiday Pay, etc.) after 12 months!
Job Summary:
This person will be supporting projects relating to distribution design for their end clients within the utilities industry. Design work will pertain replacements of poles and single target work. This person must have an eagerness and ability to learn new skills relating to design layouts and software tools for the creation of these designs. This person will be responsible for the design of utility substation components in accordance with the client that our customer is supporting's requirements as well as NESC guidelines. This person will produce engineering design documents that will be used by construction crews in the field. The design work will be completed in an effort to replace existing equipment and substation components.
Minimum Requirements:
- Comfortable commuting in office to Riverview, FL up to 4-5 days per week (will be working 40/hour per week)
- Completed Bachelors Degree in MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING, OR CIVIL ENGINEERING from an ABET accredited Engineering program
- Minimum 0-3 years of relevant professional, internship, or undergraduate coursework experience, related to Electrical/Mechanical/Civil or similar Engineering or similar is a plus, but not required
- Experience using AutoCAD, Solidworks, or similar CAD or GIS design tool preferred - will be trained on company specific software!
- Having an interest in learning about the power distribution & utilities design engineering industry utility terminology (transformers, kilowatts, voltages, transmission, etc.) - will be trained on industry specific terminology!
