About the Opportunity
This contract role provides day-to-day leadership for Health Information Management (HIM) operations with a primary focus on patient identity integrity and chart correction workflows. You will guide a small team of analysts, drive process improvements, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations while partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise HIM staff and operations focused on patient identity management (merges, overlays) and chart correction.
- Ensure integrity of the medical record and support related processes such as chart completion, release of information, and scanning as needed.
- Measure and manage productivity and quality; conduct annual performance evaluations and ongoing coaching.
- Develop, refine, and implement policies and procedures to improve quality, efficiency, and customer service.
- Handle administrative tasks including scheduling, timecard approvals, and workload planning.
- Represent HIM in meetings and collaborate with other departments to resolve workflow issues.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of Health Information Management (HIM) experience.
- 2 years of experience leading/supervising teams.
- Demonstrated expertise with patient identity (merges, overlays) and navigating chart correction cases.
- Epic proficiency.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Education: Associate s degree in Healthcare, Information Technology, Business, or a related field.
- Certification: AHIMA credential required upon hire RHIT or RHIA.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Cures Act and HIPAA Privacy Rules.
- 4 years of leadership experience.
- OnBase proficiency.
- Epic certification.
- Additional certifications: CHPS or CHDA (AHIMA).
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in a related field.
Work Environment
