Our client, a leading steel manufacturing company, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to drive continuous improvement and capital projects within a high-performing production environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who thrives on the plant floor and enjoys optimizing systems, equipment, and processes.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing or project engineering
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles
- Experience with industrial automation (including robotics such as Fanuc)
- Working knowledge of PLC systems and industrial controls
- Ability to read schematics and analyze equipment/process data
- Analyze and improve performance of production lines to increase efficiency and reliability
- Identify and implement initiatives to improve uptime, reduce cycle time, and enhance OEE
- Troubleshoot automation and equipment issues in collaboration with Maintenance and Controls teams
- Coordinate with OEMs and system integrators for equipment upgrades and modifications
- Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on throughput, yield, and scrap reduction
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Manage small- to mid-sized capital and process improvement projects from concept through execution
- Develop project scope, cost estimates, and timelines
- Provide daily engineering support to production operations
- Create SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and process documentation
