Mold Tooling Engineering Manager
Location: Stoughton, MA | Salary: $95,000 – $120,000 401(k) & Benefits
Direct Hire – Full Time
Must-Haves:
10 years of experience in mold design, tooling, or toolmaking
Associates degree or higher in engineering, manufacturing, or related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
SolidWorks 3D CAD proficiency
Experience in medical device or regulated manufacturing environments
Ability to conduct Design-for-Manufacturability (DFM) and tooling feasibility reviews
Experience collaborating with global manufacturing partners
Why This Opportunity Matters:
Lead a growing internal tool shop and play a critical role in new product development and sustaining engineering for medical cable assemblies and connector products. You will design, review, and manage molds for injection-molded and over-molded parts, ensuring products are manufacturable, robust, and cost-effective.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage an internal tool shop, including toolmakers and mold design engineers
Conduct DFM reviews on new product designs, identifying draft requirements, parting lines, undercuts, and tooling risks
Design and/or review injection molds for medical connector components, over-molded strain reliefs, and cable assemblies
Support tooling concepts including gating, venting, cooling, surface finishes, slides, and lifters
Partner with product engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective
Interface with domestic and offshore mold shops for tool design, build, debug, and qualification
Assist sustaining engineering teams with tooling-related issues, yield improvements, and design updates
Preferred Skills:
Background in medical connector and cable assembly mold design, tooling engineering, or toolmaking
Hands-on experience as a journeyman toolmaker
Familiarity with medical validation environments (IQ/OQ/PQ)
