Greenhouse Lab Technician Responsibilities
- Collect, label, process, and store plant tissue samples for laboratory analysis while maintaining accurate sample identification and storage conditions.
- Assist with seeding, transplanting, and daily care of crops such as corn, soybean, wheat, and other plants.
- Support research experiments by collecting data, recording observations, and maintaining organized documentation.
- Perform routine greenhouse maintenance and sanitation, including cleaning, sanitizing rooms, and disposing of regulated materials properly.
- Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and operational protocols.
- Utilize basic computer systems and research software to enter and manage data.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe greenhouse and laboratory environment.
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant science, biology, or related field preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Ability to manage high sample volumes while maintaining accuracy and organization.
- Basic computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office) and willingness to learn specialized research systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Comfortable working in a warm, humid greenhouse environment with year-round pollen exposure.
