Greenhouse Technician

Title: Greenhouse Technician

Duration: 06 months contract

Location: Johnston, IA

Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (occasional weekends/holidays with comp days)

Position Summary

• Support greenhouse research operations in a controlled environment facility.

• Perform plant care, pollination, and greenhouse maintenance activities.

• Assist with agricultural research processes with strong attention to detail.

• Maintain safety, compliance, and operational efficiency within the greenhouse.

Responsibilities

• Diligently shoot bag in corn pollination rooms daily

• Tassel bag and pollinate corn 1–2 times per week

• Prep and sort plant groupings with high attention to detail

• Transfer large plants on carts to designated locations within greenhouse rooms

• Perform routine sanitation tasks including discarding regulated materials

• Assist with plant care activities such as cotton pruning

• Drive tug vehicles to transport plants throughout the facility

• Follow all safety protocols and maintain compliance with greenhouse procedures

Qualifications

Education:

• High school diploma/GED required

• Bachelor's degree in agriculture, horticulture, plant sciences, or related field preferred

Experience:

• 2 years of relevant experience preferred

Skills:

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and in team environments

• Good communication skills

• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

• Ability to learn internal research systems

Additional Requirements:

• Valid driver's license required

• Ability to drive company vehicles such as a tug

• Ability to perform repetitive tasks and lift up to 30 lbs

• Comfortable working in warm, humid greenhouse conditions with pollen exposure
