The role may include morning, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. Success requires attention to detail, time management, safe work practices, and a commitment to guest service.
Room Attendants are assigned guest room cleaning and preparation duties based on hotel standards, staffing levels, training, safety procedures, scheduling requirements, and applicable law.
Job Responsibilities
Guest Room Cleaning & Preparation
- Clean and prepare guest rooms according to established hotel standards.
- Make beds, vacuum floors, dust surfaces, and sanitize all room areas.
- Clean bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, showers, mirrors, and fixtures.
- Replace linens, towels, and guest toiletries as needed.
Restocking & Maintenance Support
- Restock minibar items and in-room supplies.
- Empty trash and replace liners in guest rooms and assigned housekeeping carts or supply areas.
- Report maintenance issues such as broken fixtures, leaks, or damaged furniture.
Guest Service & Interaction
- Respond to guest requests such as additional towels, amenities, or supplies.
- Maintain a respectful approach to guest privacy and security at all times.
- Provide courteous and professional service when interacting with guests.
Safety, Compliance & Standards
- Follow all hotel safety, sanitation, hygiene, and guest room entry and privacy procedures, and comply with company policies and housekeeping guidelines.
- Use assigned safety equipment and follow hotel response procedures when working in guest rooms, restrooms, or other designated spaces.
- Promptly report threatening or unsafe guest conduct, maintenance hazards, security concerns, injuries, and incidents.
- Complete required housekeeping, safety, sanitation, guest room protocol, security response, human trafficking awareness, and workplace violence prevention training as assigned.
- Accurately follow procedures for tracking guest room assignments, rooms cleaned, supplies used, maintenance concerns, and related housekeeping records when required.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience preferred but not required.
Travel required: None.
Physical requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
- Frequent lifting and carrying of items up to 25–50 lbs.
- Continuous physical activity throughout shift in guest rooms and nearby housekeeping work areas.
- Ability to push and pull housekeeping carts and equipment.
- Ability to work in various indoor environments with exposure to cleaning chemicals.
- Capacity to perform repetitive physical tasks efficiently and safely.
