The Opportunity

The Product Portfolio Manager is responsible for driving profitable growth and operational efficiency across a broad industrial safety product portfolio. This role focuses on prioritizing high-value initiatives, improving product line performance, and aligning business, market, and customer insights to deliver measurable results — providing the strategic and analytical leadership needed to strengthen portfolio performance without expanding organizational layers.

Key Responsibilities

Product Portfolio Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and execute a focused product portfolio strategy that drives profitable growth and operational efficiency.

  • Prioritize product investments to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.

  • Leverage data and insights to balance immediate performance with long-term strategic goals.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to translate strategy into clear, measurable product initiatives.

Market & Customer Insights

  • Conduct targeted market research and voice-of-customer (VOC) initiatives to uncover high-impact growth opportunities.

  • Stay informed on competitive activity, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments shaping the market.

  • Convert insights into strong market positioning and actionable business strategies.

Product Development & Lifecycle Management

  • Identify innovation opportunities and maintain a robust, ROI-driven product development pipeline.

  • Develop business cases supported by customer insights, cost analysis, and return projections.

  • Partner with Engineering to manage the full product lifecycle, including enhancements, updates, and portfolio optimization.

  • Work cross-functionally to ensure seamless product launches and lifecycle transitions.

Pricing & Profitability

  • Take ownership of product line profitability, implementing pricing strategies that optimize margins and competitiveness.

  • Lead cost optimization and value engineering efforts to improve financial outcomes.

  • Oversee distributor and customer pricing to ensure consistency and sustainable profitability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to craft compelling value propositions and impactful go-to-market materials.

  • Support strategic customer and distributor interactions with product expertise and portfolio insights.

  • Ensure product data accuracy across systems to enable sales effectiveness and digital commerce initiatives.

Leadership & Communication

  • Influence cross-functional teams to drive execution, alignment, and accountability.

  • Communicate priorities, performance metrics, and strategic recommendations effectively to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related discipline (MBA preferred).

  • 7 years of experience in product management, portfolio strategy, or strategic planning within manufacturing or industrial sectors.

  • Demonstrated success in managing product profitability, pricing strategies, and portfolio prioritization.

  • Strong analytical capabilities, including financial modeling and data-driven decision-making.

Preferred

  • Proven ability to collaborate and influence across teams without direct authority.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and execution skills.

  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Benefits & Perks

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.

  • Flexible work schedules and alternative work arrangements.

  • 401(k) with company match.

  • Company-sponsored short- and long-term disability coverage.
