The Opportunity
The Product Portfolio Manager is responsible for driving profitable growth and operational efficiency across a broad industrial safety product portfolio. This role focuses on prioritizing high-value initiatives, improving product line performance, and aligning business, market, and customer insights to deliver measurable results — providing the strategic and analytical leadership needed to strengthen portfolio performance without expanding organizational layers.
Key Responsibilities
Product Portfolio Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute a focused product portfolio strategy that drives profitable growth and operational efficiency.
- Prioritize product investments to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
- Leverage data and insights to balance immediate performance with long-term strategic goals.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to translate strategy into clear, measurable product initiatives.
Market & Customer Insights
- Conduct targeted market research and voice-of-customer (VOC) initiatives to uncover high-impact growth opportunities.
- Stay informed on competitive activity, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments shaping the market.
- Convert insights into strong market positioning and actionable business strategies.
Product Development & Lifecycle Management
- Identify innovation opportunities and maintain a robust, ROI-driven product development pipeline.
- Develop business cases supported by customer insights, cost analysis, and return projections.
- Partner with Engineering to manage the full product lifecycle, including enhancements, updates, and portfolio optimization.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure seamless product launches and lifecycle transitions.
Pricing & Profitability
- Take ownership of product line profitability, implementing pricing strategies that optimize margins and competitiveness.
- Lead cost optimization and value engineering efforts to improve financial outcomes.
- Oversee distributor and customer pricing to ensure consistency and sustainable profitability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Sales and Marketing to craft compelling value propositions and impactful go-to-market materials.
- Support strategic customer and distributor interactions with product expertise and portfolio insights.
- Ensure product data accuracy across systems to enable sales effectiveness and digital commerce initiatives.
Leadership & Communication
- Influence cross-functional teams to drive execution, alignment, and accountability.
- Communicate priorities, performance metrics, and strategic recommendations effectively to senior stakeholders.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related discipline (MBA preferred).
- 7 years of experience in product management, portfolio strategy, or strategic planning within manufacturing or industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated success in managing product profitability, pricing strategies, and portfolio prioritization.
- Strong analytical capabilities, including financial modeling and data-driven decision-making.

- Proven ability to collaborate and influence across teams without direct authority.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and execution skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 20%.
