Director of Strategic Initiatives
Private Equity–Backed Specialty Physician Platform
Location: Flexible (U.S.); ~25% travel with in-person time twice monthly
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
The Opportunity
This role is with a national specialty physician group and is a highly visible position supporting the organization’s next phase of growth. The company has built a strong foundation through physician partnerships, organic expansion, and strategic acquisitions, and is now focused on accelerating value creation across the platform.
Backed by a leading private equity sponsor and operating in a physician-led model, the organization is investing in key growth initiatives, including expansion of ancillary services, continued M&A, and broader operational improvements to enhance both clinical and financial performance.
The Director of Strategic Initiatives will work directly with the CEO (founding physician) to drive a portfolio of the company’s highest-priority initiatives. This is a true “center of the action” role for someone looking to transition from consulting into a hands-on operating environment with significant exposure and impact.
Role Overview
The Director of Strategic Initiatives will act as a force multiplier for the CEO and leadership team—bringing structure, rigor, and execution to critical initiatives across the business. The role is intentionally broad and will evolve with business needs, offering exposure across strategy, operations, and growth.
Initial focus areas include development of ancillary service lines (e.g., pharmacy, ASCs, and other provider-driven initiatives), M&A strategy and integration, and enterprise-wide priorities tied to scaling the platform.
This role is best suited for someone who enjoys moving between strategy and execution, is comfortable operating in ambiguity, and is motivated by building within a fast-paced, physician-led organization.

- Experience in healthcare services, multi-site provider environments, or related sectors is required.
- Exposure to execution-focused work, including transformation, integration, or growth initiatives.
- Additional operating or in-company experience is a plus, but not required.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to structure ambiguity effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across stakeholders and drive initiatives forward.
- Excellent communication skills and strong executive presence.
- Willingness to travel (~25%) and spend time in-person with leadership twice monthly.
