Salary Range:
$34,492.64 - $69,440.54POLICE RECORDS SUPERVISOR DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF WORK Supervises and coordinates the activities of staff engaged in maintaining central records files. Issues oral and written instructions, assigned functions and duties, expedites workflow, reviews work for accuracy, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures. Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances. This individual is a working supervisor who also assists subordinates in performing their respective duties and will be required to perform additional related duties as assigned. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES • Researches and settles disputes involving releases of towed vehicles and releases of specific police reports. • Prepares cases and documentation for court when under subpoena. • Maintains daily office clerical functions for other areas of the department as well as the City. • Exercises sound judgment in the application of prescribed methods, policies and procedures. • Supervises staff engaged in maintaining central records files. • Issues oral and written instructions. • Accountable for daily deposits received for accuracy. • Performs other related tasks and supervisory duties as required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • General knowledge of the Police Department’s policies and procedures as it pertains to the Support Services work area. • Knowledge of a computer terminal, cash register and other related equipment. • Ability to understand, carry-out, and issue oral and written instructions. • Ability to deal effectively with and properly handle citizen requests and/or complaints. • Must understand the importance of maintaining a high level of confidentiality regarding certain sensitive police records, etc. • General knowledge of supervisory skills is required. MINIMUM TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE • College graduate with a 2 year degree from an accredited college or any combination of experience and education totaling four years. • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within a law enforcement agency (preferably in records management) and a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience is desirable. • Ability to speak both English and Spanish with fluency is desirable. • Must have a valid Florida driver license.
