Job Summary
We are looking for a Family Support Specialist to work with our Behavioral Health Home (BHH) team.
As per MaineCare requirements, "The Family Support Specialist is an individual who has a family member who is receiving or has received services and supports related to the diagnosis of a mental illness, and who is willing to self-identify on this basis with Behavioral Health Home members."
This position would require 5-10 hours per week working with clients as a peer support, and being available to work with their case management providers and other members of the BHH team as needed. In this role, you will use your experience as a parent to help other parents navigate the mental health treatment process and will be willing to share your story in order to help normalize their experiences. Position based out of our Portland office on Forest Avenue but may require occasional trips to the Lewiston office.
Requirements:
-Have a child who is or who has gone through mental and/or behavioral health treatment, and have willingness to share this experience openly and ID as a parent consumer.
-Have transportation and valid driver's license
-Completion of Maine OCFS peer support curriculum preferred, but we will train the right candidate.
