Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
The PMHNP is a professional position in which the incumbent provides care to patients diagnosed with substance use and psychiatric disorders. The PMHNP provides Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) and psychiatric medication management to patients enrolled in all levels of outpatient and residential as well as hospital bridge, community outreach, and detoxification programs. The PMHNP identifies short-term and long-term patient care issues, recommends options and courses of action, and implements directives from the Chief Medical Officer. The PMHNP assesses patient health by interviewing, performing physical examinations, obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories, and participating in other assigned clinical activities. Completes relevant documentation in the electronic health record and effectively communicates with other professionals to ensure patient care is delivered effectively.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Ensure quality internal and external customer care and service.
2. Maintain a working relationship with the Medical Director/Chief Medical Officer and other staff members, such as nurses, counselors, case managers, peer specialists, research staff, and pharmacists.
3. Perform patient histories and physicals, risk factor assessment, order therapeutic and diagnostic tests.
4. Prescribe medication following clinic, state, and federal guidelines.
5. Consult with physicians on cases that are beyond the scope of qualification.
6. Instructs and counsels patients by describing therapeutic regimens
7. Educate patients and their families about psychiatric disorder, substance abuse, and disease prevention
8. Educate patients and their families about Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)
9. Provides continuity of care by developing and implement patient management plans.
10. Be responsible for providing emergency psychiatric services, physical and psychosocial examination of patients.
11. Maintain regular and professional communication with community partners.
12. Complete all documentation in a timely manner and with a high degree of accuracy and maintain document security.
13. Participate in case consultations, treatment planning, and mortality reviews.
14. Participate in quality management functions.
15. Conduct follow up data collection and reports as required.
- Must be eligible through DCF and AHCA with Level II Background checks throughout employment.

QUALIFICATIONS FORMAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
· Valid Florida licensure (APRN)
· PMHNP preferred
· Valid DEA
· Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) experience or willingness to learn
· Florida dispensing practitioner within 90 days of employment

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
· May be required to travel to multiple brick-and-mortar sites and mobile medical unit
· Exposure to clients who may be under the influence or withdrawing from mood-altering chemicals
· Shift work at times with non-traditional hours and possible weekend and evening work.
· Possible exposure and or contact with blood, body fluids and airborne pathogens
