Our client is seeking an experienced Design Director to lead the development of home textile collections with a strong focus on kitchen textiles, including kitchen towels, table linens, runners, placemats, and napkins. The ideal candidate brings deep home furnishings expertise, strong CAD and surface design capabilities, and a proven ability to take products from concept through production-ready artwork.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of home textile collections across kitchen, bedding, bath, and window categories, with a primary focus on kitchen textiles.
- Translate brand style guides into cohesive product assortments tailored to specific retail channels, customer needs, and price points.
- Create and direct surface design artwork, including print repeats, engineered layouts, woven designs, textures, and embroidery applications.
- Produce production-ready artwork and design specifications for factory handoff and sample development.
- Develop 2D and 3D mockups, renderings, and presentation materials to support design reviews, customer presentations, and approvals.
- Create retail planograms and assortment presentations that support category storytelling and sales initiatives.
- Partner with sales teams to develop account-specific product assortments and design solutions.
- Collaborate closely with product development, sourcing, brand, and licensing teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Maintain and organize artwork libraries, ensuring efficient file management, version control, and asset accessibility.
- Provide creative direction while remaining actively involved in hands-on CAD design and artwork development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design, Surface Design, Home Design, Fashion Design, or a related field.
- 5–7 years of experience in the home furnishings industry, with significant experience in kitchen textiles and tabletop categories.
- Strong expertise in kitchen towels, table linens, placemats, runners, napkins, and related home textile products.
- Proven experience taking designs from concept through production-ready artwork and factory execution.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Experience with textile CAD software such as NedGraphics, Lectra Kaledo, Pointcarré, ProSpec, EAT, Wilcom, AVA CAD/CAM, or similar platforms.
- Experience creating retail planograms, mockups, and presentation materials.
- Strong understanding of product development, sourcing, and retail merchandising processes.
- Excellent organizational, project management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to balance creative direction with hands-on design execution in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
