The Scheduler will provide an independent assessment of the EPC contractor’s schedule performance and support the Project Manager and Construction Manager with accurate, field-verified schedule information.
This is a site-based position requiring regular field presence to validate construction progress, confirm sequencing, identify constraints, and determine whether contractor forecasts are realistic. All schedule development and maintenance will be performed in Primavera P6.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update the owner’s integrated project schedule in Primavera P6.
- Conduct routine field walkdowns to validate actual starts, finishes, remaining durations, work sequencing, and reported progress.
- Compare contractor schedule updates against current field conditions and identify discrepancies.
- Monitor critical and near-critical paths, milestones, float, constraints, interfaces, calendars, and schedule logic.
- Coordinate schedule status with construction, engineering, project controls, startup, commissioning, plant operations, and contractor personnel.
- Identify emerging delays, out-of-sequence work, access restrictions, engineering issues, material constraints, and other schedule risks.
- Review the EPC contractor’s P6 schedule updates for accuracy, completeness, logic integrity, and contractual compliance.
- Evaluate schedule revisions, recovery plans, fragnets, sequencing changes, and change-related time impacts.
- Assess schedule achievability based on resource assumptions, work density, outage interfaces, commissioning dependencies, and contingency planning.
- Maintain schedule narratives, assumptions, progress notes, action items, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare weekly schedule reports, milestone forecasts, variance analyses, recovery recommendations, and look-ahead schedules.
- Support construction, outage, startup, commissioning, turnover, and system completion planning.
- Maintain controlled P6 files and schedule records within the project document management system.
Meetings and Reporting
- Participate in daily owner and contractor coordination meetings.
- Communicate schedule conditions that may affect project execution or milestone achievement.
- Coordinate directly with field personnel to confirm current progress and upcoming activities.
- Debrief the Project Manager and Construction Manager on significant schedule changes, delays, and field conditions.
- Facilitate weekly schedule reviews with project leadership.
- Participate in the EPC contractor’s weekly progress and schedule update meetings.
- Issue weekly reports covering critical and near-critical paths, milestone forecasts, schedule variances, key constraints, recovery actions, required project decisions.
Required Qualifications
- Direct scheduling experience on EPC, power generation, or heavy industrial construction projects.
- Advanced proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6, including schedule development and updating, logic and relationship review, baselines and schedule comparison, calendars and constraints, activity coding, filters, and layouts, critical path and float analysis.
- Ability to independently review contractor P6 files and identify progress, sequencing, logic, and forecast concerns.
- Willingness to maintain a regular site and field presence.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, construction work packages, turnover boundaries, and commissioning sequences.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare concise schedule narratives, milestone reports, look-aheads, meeting notes, and action-item updates.
- Working knowledge of progress measurement, earned value, change management, delay analysis, and schedule risk.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting an owner, owner’s engineer, or third-party project management team.
- Experience with simple-cycle or combined-cycle gas turbine projects.
- Knowledge of construction, outage integration, startup, commissioning, system turnover, and commercial operation milestones.
- Experience supporting GE heavy-duty gas turbines or aeroderivative generation projects.
Working Conditions
- Site-based position within an active power generation construction environment.
- Combination of field verification and office or project trailer-based scheduling activities.
- Expected schedule of approximately five 10-hour shifts per week.
